The Golden Triangle, at an Unhurried Pace

Not every traveler comes to India for a tiger safari and that’s exactly why this itinerary exists. Delhi, Agra, and  Jaipur sit at three points of a rough triangle on the map, which is where the name “Golden Triangle” comes from,  and why this remains India’s most-traveled tourist circuit. This 8-day version gives you 2 extra nights compared to  our classic 5-day route more time in each city, a slower pace, and room for the things a rushed itinerary never  allows: a proper food walk, a cooking class, a heritage walking tour, or simply an unhurried afternoon to shop,  rest, and take it all in.

We work with travelers from the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Germany, Singapore, and  Malaysia and all other respected countries, no two of you want exactly the same trip. Some come for heritage and  old architecture. Some come for food. Some want the perfect photograph in front of a Mughal monument. Some  simply want to relax in beautiful places with people they love. This itinerary is built to flex around all of it.

Delhi

Jama Masjid, a rickshaw ride through the spice markets and narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk, Raj Ghat, Qutub  Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, and a drive past the city’s grand government buildings with two full nights, there’s time  to add a heritage walking tour or a street food crawl through Old Delhi.

Agra

Agra Fort, the gardens of Mehtab Bagh, and the Itimad-ud-Daulah tomb often called the “Baby Taj” for the  delicate marble inlay work that some say inspired the Taj Mahal itself. And, of course, the Taj Mahal at sunrise,  when the first light hits the marble and the whole monument seems to change color in front of you. Two nights  here means both a sunset and a sunrise visit, at a pace with no rush.

Jaipur

The City Palace, Amber Fort, the astronomical instruments of Jantar Mantar, and photo stops at Hawa Mahal and  Jal Mahal Jaipur is also a shopping and jewellery paradise, with some of India’s best food. Three full nights give  you time for the monuments, the markets, a cooking class, and simply resting in one of India’s most colorful cities  before you fly home.

Eight days, three cities, and a genuine, unrushed introduction to India’s history, architecture, and culture, See the  full day-by-day itinerary below.

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 — Delhi: Where the Trip Begins

Arrive in Delhi and settle into your hotel. In the afternoon, step into Old Delhi — the Red Fort, the domes of Jama  Masjid, and a cycle-rickshaw ride through the color and energy of Chandni Chowk, with street snacks your guide  picks out along the way. Evening at leisure, with your first dinner in India.

Day 2 — Delhi at Your Pace

With a second full day in the capital, choose your own focus: New Delhi’s grand government buildings,  Humayun’s Tomb, and Qutub Minar for more history, or — if it interests you — a dedicated Old Delhi heritage  walking tour or a guided street food tour through the capital’s best-loved lanes and stalls. Let us know your  preference and we’ll build the day around it.

Day 3 — Delhi to Agra, the Taj at Sunset

Drive to Agra and check in to your hotel. Visit Agra Fort in the afternoon, then head to Mehtab Bagh as the light  turns gold — the gardens across the river where you’ll watch the sun set behind the Taj Mahal, with a fraction of  the crowd that gathers on the main side.

Day 4 — Sunrise at the Taj, a Full Day in Agra

An early start, by design: the Taj Mahal at sunrise, when the marble turns pink and gold and the gardens are  nearly empty — worth setting an alarm for. With a second night in Agra, the rest of the day stays open: visit the  Itimad-ud-Daulah (“Baby Taj”), browse Agra’s famous marble inlay workshops, or simply rest before the drive  onward.

Day 5 — Onward to Jaipur via Fatehpur Sikri

Drive toward Jaipur, stopping at Fatehpur Sikri, the red sandstone city the Mughals built and then abandoned  within decades — one of the best-preserved Mughal-era sites in India. Check in to your Jaipur hotel by evening.

Day 6 — Jaipur, the Pink City

Ride up to Amber Fort — by jeep or, for the classic postcard moment, by elephant to the gate. From there, wander  the City Palace, photograph the honeycomb façade of Hawa Mahal, and take in the astronomical instruments of  Jantar Mantar.

Day 7 — Jaipur at Leisure

A third day in Jaipur gives you real breathing room: local bazaars for jewellery, block-printed textiles, and  gemstones, an optional Indian cooking class with a local host, or simply a slower morning before your final night  in India.

Day 8 — Departure via Delh

Drive back to Delhi for your onward flight, or connect directly if your international departure is from Delhi. Your  tour concludes here — with lifetime memories, and no rush at the end.

Dream Day Tours Golden Triangle and Tiger Safari Tour is definitely worth booking! Review of Dream Day Tours - Golden Triangle plus Tiger Safari Tour This past June my wife and I traveled to India with one of my wife’s colleagues to visit her husband’s hometown in Assam, India. It was great seeing a part of India from the perspective of a family that lived there, but since this was my wife’s first time to India, we decided to book a tour to show her some other beautiful sites. And so, we booked a lovely tour through Dream Day Tours, which is based in Jaipur. It was called the Golden Triangle Tour with Tiger Safari. It was just the two of us on the tour, so Dream Day Tours catered everything to our needs and desires. To begin, we flew into Delhi and Dream Day arranged for a driver to bring us from the airport to the Welcomehotel by ITC in Dwarka. Excellent hotel with very good food. The next day, we started our tour with the driver that was assigned to us, Jeetu Singh. Jeetu was great and transported us to our various destinations for the entire tour. We were also provided with a local guide for Delhi, Aarif Sheikh. Aarif was an excellent guide. He gave us a lot of historical and cultural information and took us to Jama Masjid, which was a spectacular mosque built in the time of the Mughals in the 1600’s, and still used for prayer today. We also got a bicycle rickshaw ride in Chandni Chowk, which is a lively and colorful market nearby. We were also taken to a grand Sikh Temple and learned of the generosity of the Sikh’s to their pilgrims and temple visitors. We appreciated the visits to the monuments and museums that were made around the life and death of Mahatma Gandhi in Delhi. The next morning Jeetu brought us to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. We were met there by our guide Vipin. The Taj is spectacular, and basically was the only site we visited in Agra. Vipin brought us to various places to see the Taj under different views and at sunrise and sunset. We had total access to the Taj and its grounds, and Vipin, an amateur photographer took many beautiful and romantic photos of us with the Taj as a background. In fact, he took such a beautiful photo of us that we both use it as our most recent FB profile page. He definitely has talent as a photographer! On our way from Agra to Jaipur, Jeetu had us visit Fatehpur Sikri, which was the capital of the Mughal empire under Emperor Akbar in the 1500’s. This was certainly worth the visit. And we also stopped at a step well, which was a structure that was used historically to provide water to the inhabitants of the area. It was really different, fascinating, and ingenious! In Jaipur, the Pink City, we were again provided with a guide that was very versed in Indian culture and history, Mr. Raghuveer. He immediately brought us the Hawa Mahal, or Wind Palace, which is an incredibly beautiful structure overlooking a large busy square. We were again brought there by the Dream Day Tours owner, Ashfaq, in the evening, to see its beauty at night. Phenomenal! We had stressed that, besides seeing traditional tourist sites, we wanted to get an experience that showed us some of what really goes on in Jaipur streets, so Mr. Raghuveer took us to the flower market, where we were showered with flowers. This seemed especially appropriate for us since we had just celebrated our 40th anniversary. It was wild, and the flowers were beautiful, and an Indian friend of ours said it was like we were getting married! Then we visited the extraordinarily ornate and expansive Amber Fort, which was built in the 1500s by a Hindu Raj that had a political alliance with the Muslim Moghul Emperor Akbar. Beyond beautiful! Didn’t think that could be topped, but then we were brought to the City Palace, which was unbelievable in its majesty! Other things that made the trip a super experience were seeing a real snake charmer and having a hands-on interaction with an elephant, which was very weird, very exciting, and a little unnerving! We were definitely in India, far from home! And since we were so far, my wife wanted to go on a tiger safari, which we did at the Ranthambore National Park. We were lucky enough to spot some tigers in their natural environment, and we also saw other wildlife like bears, crocodiles, wild boars, a slew of peacocks and peahens, and other big birds and wildlife! It was all good, and Ashfaq at Dream Day Tours made it all possible for us by coordinating our itinerary, providing us with excellent guides, great hotels (with dinners and breakfasts included most days), and providing us with our beloved driver, Jeetu, who got us to every site and more, and then to the airport in ample time to catch our flight home! Thank you, Dream Day Tours!

Better than we could have imagined! This was the most well organised trip we could have asked for! Ashfaq and the team couldn't have done more to make the trip better - hotel was stunning, lifts to and from Safari on time (and aircon!) and the best Safari, 2 groups and 1 private ( we saw 7 Tigers). This was a trip tailored to us, made very special! Highly recommend Dream Day Tours if you want the best trip of a life time at a great price!

Good Experience We had a great experience. My friend and I booked the trip just two weeks before arriving in India, and they responded quickly and made everything possible. We shared what we wanted to see, and they created a plan around it. We also had a fantastic driver who was very kind and always made sure we had everything we needed, including water, soda, and beer.

Saw Tigers and Crocodiles! We did 3 safaris, on the first two we saw lots of wildlife including monkeys, deer, hyenas, peacocks and other birds, but no tigers… And then on the third, we were lucky enough to see on four separate occasions a tiger casually strolling through its natural habitat. We got close enough to take good photos and one even walked straight past the Jeep! We also saw a couple of crocodiles by the lake which topped it off. Very enjoyable experience!

Have an Extra Day or Two? Popular Combinations

This 8-day route is already one of our most complete itineraries — but for travelers with extra time, these are the  add-ons our guests choose most often, each just a short drive from the main circuit:

  • Ranthambore Tiger Safari — for travelers who decide partway through that they do want a wildlife day  after all, 2 extra days for tiger tracking in Ranthambore National Park, positioned at either end of the  itinerary
  • Mandawa — a heritage lover’s detour into the Shekhawati region, known for its painted havelis and  centuries-old frescoed buildings; a favorite for travelers drawn to old architecture and untouched small town India
  • Pushkar — the holy lakeside town built around India’s only Brahma temple, offering a slower,  devotional, deeply cultural counterpoint to the cities — especially popular around Pushkar Camel Fair  season
  • Jaisalmer — the Golden City, for a genuine desert experience: camel safaris, sand dunes, and a fort city  that feels like something out of a storybook, a favorite with families traveling with parents and children  alike
  • Bundi — a quieter, less-visited heritage gem tucked between forts and palaces, known for its stepwells,  blue-washed old town, and nearby leopard sightings; a favorite with travelers who’ve already done the  main circuit and want something off the beaten path

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I choose my own hotel category for this tour?

Yes — this version of the tour lets you choose between 4-star and 5-star hotel categories in each city, rather than a  fixed set of named hotels. Let us know your preference when you enquire, and we’ll confirm options and pricing  accordingly.

Is this truly private, or will we be grouped with other travelers?

Fully private. Your car, driver, and guide are exclusively yours for all 8 days — no fixed group schedule, no other  travelers

What's the best time of year for this tour?

October to March — cooler, clearer days for sightseeing, and comfortable evenings. Winter mornings can be  misty around the Taj Mahal, which many travelers find atmospheric for sunrise.

We don't want a wildlife safari — is this itinerary really wildlife-free?

Yes. This is our classic Golden Triangle route with no safari included, built specifically for travelers who prefer to  spend their extra days on heritage, food, culture, and leisure instead. If you change your mind, Ranthambore can  always be added as a 2-day extension.

Can you arrange a food walking tour or cooking class?

Yes — both are popular optional add-ons in Delhi and Jaipur. Let us know your interest when booking and we’ll  build it into your Day 2 or Day 7 itinerary.

Can this itinerary be extended or adjusted — for example, adding Mandawa, Pushkar, Jaisalmer, or Bundi?

Yes, easily — these are some of the most popular add-ons to this exact itinerary. See the “Have an Extra Day or  Two?” section above for details, or let us know your interests and we’ll build a custom route.

Is the sunrise Taj Mahal visit worth the early start?

Yes — it’s the quietest the monument ever is, with soft light and far fewer visitors than any other time of day.

What payment methods do you accept, and is it safe to book online?

International card (via Razorpay), bank transfer, or Revolut/Wise. You’ll receive a formal invoice under our  registered business name — there’s no requirement to pay everything in cash on arrival.

Do I need a visa to visit India, and how long does it take?

Most nationalities can apply for an Indian e-Visa online; approval typically takes a few business days, though we  recommend applying at least 2–3 weeks before travel to allow for delays. We can point you to the official  government portal when you book.

Is the Taj Mahal open every day?

No — it’s closed on Fridays. If your dates include one, we’ll rearrange the sequence so you don’t miss the visit.

Is this itinerary suitable for a longer leisure break attached to a business trip?

Yes — this is a common way this tour is booked. Because it’s fully private with no fixed group schedule, it works  well for travelers extending a work trip with over a week of leisure.

What's the difference between this tour and your luxury Oberoi/Taj/Leela version?

This version gives you the freedom to choose your own hotel category (4-star or 5-star) at a more accessible price  point, rather than being locked into a fixed luxury hotel chain. If you specifically want to stay at Oberoi, Taj,  Leela, or Raffles properties throughout, our dedicated luxury itinerary covers that instead.

Is it safe to travel to India, especially for solo or female travelers?

India is a popular destination for solo and female travelers, and being fully private — your own car, driver, and  guide throughout — removes much of the uncertainty of independent travel. We’re also reachable by phone or  messaging for the length of your trip.

What should I pack for this tour?

Lightweight, breathable clothing for daytime, a light layer for cool winter mornings and evenings (Oct–Mar),  comfortable walking shoes, sun protection, and modest clothing (shoulders and knees covered) for temple and  mosque visits.

Will I have Wi-Fi or a local SIM during the trip?

Most hotels offer Wi-Fi, and a local SIM or eSIM can be arranged easily on arrival or in advance — let us know  if you’d like us to help organize one.

Is tap water safe to drink? What about food safety?

We recommend sticking to bottled or filtered water, which is provided during transfers and sightseeing. Meals at  hotels and the restaurants your guide selects are chosen with travelers’ comfort in mind.

What's the dress code for temples and mosques on this route?

Modest dress is expected — shoulders and knees covered, and shoes are removed before entering some holy sites  out of respect; otherwise you’re free to choose your own style. Your guide will let you know what’s needed at  each stop (temporary shoulder/knee/shoe coverings are available at all applicable sites).

Do I need any vaccinations before traveling to India?

Requirements vary by traveler and home country, so we recommend checking with a travel health clinic or your  doctor a few weeks before departure.

Can I tip my driver and guide, and how much is customary?

Tipping isn’t included in the tour price and is entirely at your discretion. We’re happy to advise on customary  amounts closer to your travel dates.

What currency should I bring, and can I use my credit card in India?

Cards are widely accepted in hotels and many shops in Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur, but it’s worth carrying some  Indian Rupees in cash for markets, small vendors, and tips.

Which airport should I fly into to start this tour?

Most travelers fly into Indira Gandhi International Airport (Delhi), where your private transfer will collect you to  begin the tour.

What happens if my flight is delayed and I miss part of Day 1?

Let your on-ground concierge know as soon as possible — we’ll adjust your Day 1 schedule or shift activities to  keep the rest of the itinerary on track.

Is this tour accessible for elderly travelers or those with limited mobility?

Because the tour is private and paced entirely around you, we can adjust walking distances and timings — let us  know any mobility considerations when you enquire so we can plan accordingly.

Do you offer vegetarian, vegan, or other dietary accommodations?

Yes — let us know your dietary requirements when booking and we’ll arrange suitable options at hotels and  restaurants throughout.

How is Dream Day Tours different from booking through a general travel agent?

government-approved operator based in Jaipur, specializing specifically in this route with our own on ground concierge, private vehicles, and guides, rather than outsourcing to third parties.
