7 Days Royal Rajasthan Tour: Jaipur, Pushkar, Jodhpur & Jaisalmer
Most first-time visitors to India stitch Rajasthan onto the end of a Delhi and Agra trip — a day or two in Jaipur, then home. This route does the opposite: seven days spent entirely within Rajasthan itself, moving from the Pink City’s palaces to the holy ghats of Pushkar, the blue lanes beneath Jodhpur’s fort, and the golden sandstone of Jaisalmer at the edge of the Thar Desert. No Taj Mahal, no Delhi traffic — just Rajasthan, properly explored.

Why This Route Is Different
A standard Golden Triangle tour gives you a taste of Rajasthan through Jaipur alone, then moves on to Agra and Delhi. This route stays in Rajasthan for the entire week, and adds three places most Golden Triangle itineraries never reach at all.
- Pushkar - one of Hinduism's holiest towns, built around a lake said to have formed where Brahma dropped a lotus, ringed by ghats and over 500 temples
- Jodhpur - the Blue City, its old town spread beneath Mehrangarh Fort, one of the largest and best-preserved forts in India
- Jaisalmer - a living fort of golden sandstone rising straight out of the Thar Desert, still home to families, shops and temples within its walls
None of these are detours. Each one adds a genuinely different layer to the trip — faith and ritual in Pushkar, a fort city still lived in at Jodhpur, and the desert itself at Jaisalmer — without a single day spent on Mughal monuments you may already have planned to see on another trip.
Your 7-Day Journey, Day by Day
Arrive in Jaipur and settle into your hotel. If your flight lands early enough, ease in with a walk through the old city bazaars or a rooftop view over the Pink City at sunset. Overnight in Jaipur (night 1 of 2).
A full day of Jaipur’s royal heritage: Amber Fort by jeep or on foot, the City Palace, Hawa Mahal, and the astronomical instruments of Jantar Mantar. In the evening, shop the bazaars — this is the city for gemstones, block-printed textiles, and traditional jewelry. Overnight in Jaipur (night 2 of 2).
Drive to Pushkar (approx. 2.5-3 hours), arriving in time for the evening aarti (prayer ceremony) at the lake’s ghats — one of the most atmospheric moments of the entire trip, with hundreds of oil lamps set adrift on the water. Overnight in Pushkar.
A morning at the Brahma Temple, one of the only temples in the world dedicated to the Hindu creator god, followed by a walk along the ghats and through Pushkar’s bazaar, known for silver jewelry and hand-woven textiles. Early afternoon, drive to Jodhpur (approx. 5 hours), arriving beneath the walls of Mehrangarh Fort. Overnight in Jodhpur.
A morning at Mehrangarh Fort, one of India’s largest forts, followed by a walk through Jodhpur’s blue-washed old city lanes. In the afternoon, drive to Jaisalmer (approx. 5-6 hours), watching the landscape turn to desert along the way. Overnight in Jaisalmer (night 1 of 2).
A full day in Jaisalmer: explore the fort itself — one of the only “living forts” in the world, still home to families, shops and temples within its walls — and the carved havelis of the old city. In the late afternoon, head out to the Sam Sand Dunes for sunset over the Thar Desert, with a short camel ride included. Overnight in Jaisalmer (night 2 of 2).
A private drive back to Jaipur (approx. 6-7 hours), with stops along the way to break up the journey. Drop-off at your Jaipur hotel or the airport, timed to your onward travel.
Practical note: the Jaisalmer to Jaipur drive on the final day is the longest of the trip. If you’d prefer to shorten it, we can route you via a short domestic flight from Jodhpur or Jaisalmer instead — ask us when you enquire.
Before You Travel - Important Notes
- Pushkar is a sacred town — alcohol, meat, and eggs are not sold or permitted within the town limits, out of respect for local religious practice
- Shoulders and knees must be covered at all temples, including the Brahma Temple in Pushkar, for both men and women
- Jaisalmer Fort is a living fort, still home to families and shops — please be respectful when photographing residents or their homes
- Desert excursions (camel rides, dune visits) depend on weather and are adjusted or rescheduled if conditions require it
- The Jodhpur-Jaisalmer and Jaisalmer-Jaipur drives are long — comfortable clothing and regular stops are built into the schedule

Dream Day Tours Golden Triangle and Tiger Safari Tour is definitely worth booking! Review of Dream Day Tours - Golden Triangle plus Tiger Safari Tour This past June my wife and I traveled to India with one of my wife’s colleagues to visit her husband’s hometown in Assam, India. It was great seeing a part of India from the perspective of a family that lived there, but since this was my wife’s first time to India, we decided to book a tour to show her some other beautiful sites. And so, we booked a lovely tour through Dream Day Tours, which is based in Jaipur. It was called the Golden Triangle Tour with Tiger Safari. It was just the two of us on the tour, so Dream Day Tours catered everything to our needs and desires. To begin, we flew into Delhi and Dream Day arranged for a driver to bring us from the airport to the Welcomehotel by ITC in Dwarka. Excellent hotel with very good food. The next day, we started our tour with the driver that was assigned to us, Jeetu Singh. Jeetu was great and transported us to our various destinations for the entire tour. We were also provided with a local guide for Delhi, Aarif Sheikh. Aarif was an excellent guide. He gave us a lot of historical and cultural information and took us to Jama Masjid, which was a spectacular mosque built in the time of the Mughals in the 1600’s, and still used for prayer today. We also got a bicycle rickshaw ride in Chandni Chowk, which is a lively and colorful market nearby. We were also taken to a grand Sikh Temple and learned of the generosity of the Sikh’s to their pilgrims and temple visitors. We appreciated the visits to the monuments and museums that were made around the life and death of Mahatma Gandhi in Delhi. The next morning Jeetu brought us to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. We were met there by our guide Vipin. The Taj is spectacular, and basically was the only site we visited in Agra. Vipin brought us to various places to see the Taj under different views and at sunrise and sunset. We had total access to the Taj and its grounds, and Vipin, an amateur photographer took many beautiful and romantic photos of us with the Taj as a background. In fact, he took such a beautiful photo of us that we both use it as our most recent FB profile page. He definitely has talent as a photographer! On our way from Agra to Jaipur, Jeetu had us visit Fatehpur Sikri, which was the capital of the Mughal empire under Emperor Akbar in the 1500’s. This was certainly worth the visit. And we also stopped at a step well, which was a structure that was used historically to provide water to the inhabitants of the area. It was really different, fascinating, and ingenious! In Jaipur, the Pink City, we were again provided with a guide that was very versed in Indian culture and history, Mr. Raghuveer. He immediately brought us the Hawa Mahal, or Wind Palace, which is an incredibly beautiful structure overlooking a large busy square. We were again brought there by the Dream Day Tours owner, Ashfaq, in the evening, to see its beauty at night. Phenomenal! We had stressed that, besides seeing traditional tourist sites, we wanted to get an experience that showed us some of what really goes on in Jaipur streets, so Mr. Raghuveer took us to the flower market, where we were showered with flowers. This seemed especially appropriate for us since we had just celebrated our 40th anniversary. It was wild, and the flowers were beautiful, and an Indian friend of ours said it was like we were getting married! Then we visited the extraordinarily ornate and expansive Amber Fort, which was built in the 1500s by a Hindu Raj that had a political alliance with the Muslim Moghul Emperor Akbar. Beyond beautiful! Didn’t think that could be topped, but then we were brought to the City Palace, which was unbelievable in its majesty! Other things that made the trip a super experience were seeing a real snake charmer and having a hands-on interaction with an elephant, which was very weird, very exciting, and a little unnerving! We were definitely in India, far from home! And since we were so far, my wife wanted to go on a tiger safari, which we did at the Ranthambore National Park. We were lucky enough to spot some tigers in their natural environment, and we also saw other wildlife like bears, crocodiles, wild boars, a slew of peacocks and peahens, and other big birds and wildlife! It was all good, and Ashfaq at Dream Day Tours made it all possible for us by coordinating our itinerary, providing us with excellent guides, great hotels (with dinners and breakfasts included most days), and providing us with our beloved driver, Jeetu, who got us to every site and more, and then to the airport in ample time to catch our flight home! Thank you, Dream Day Tours!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

❤️Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Better than we could have imagined! This was the most well organised trip we could have asked for! Ashfaq and the team couldn't have done more to make the trip better - hotel was stunning, lifts to and from Safari on time (and aircon!) and the best Safari, 2 groups and 1 private ( we saw 7 Tigers). This was a trip tailored to us, made very special! Highly recommend Dream Day Tours if you want the best trip of a life time at a great price!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Good Experience We had a great experience. My friend and I booked the trip just two weeks before arriving in India, and they responded quickly and made everything possible. We shared what we wanted to see, and they created a plan around it. We also had a fantastic driver who was very kind and always made sure we had everything we needed, including water, soda, and beer.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Saw Tigers and Crocodiles! We did 3 safaris, on the first two we saw lots of wildlife including monkeys, deer, hyenas, peacocks and other birds, but no tigers… And then on the third, we were lucky enough to see on four separate occasions a tiger casually strolling through its natural habitat. We got close enough to take good photos and one even walked straight past the Jeep! We also saw a couple of crocodiles by the lake which topped it off. Very enjoyable experience!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes this different from a standard Golden Triangle tour?
A standard Golden Triangle tour covers Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur. This route skips Delhi and Agra entirely and stays within Rajasthan for the full week, adding Pushkar’s holy ghats, Jodhpur’s Blue City, and Jaisalmer’s desert fort — a very different, and much less rushed, kind of trip.
Why is Pushkar considered a holy site?
Pushkar Lake is one of Hinduism’s most sacred sites, believed to have formed where the god Brahma dropped a lotus flower. The town is home to one of the only temples in the world dedicated to Brahma himself, making it a major pilgrimage destination as well as a stop for travelers.
Is alcohol really banned in Pushkar?
Yes — Pushkar is a vegetarian, alcohol-free town out of respect for its religious significance, and meat and eggs aren’t sold within town limits either. It’s worth setting expectations for this in advance.
What's the difference between Jodhpur and Jaisalmer?
Jodhpur, the Blue City, is built beneath Mehrangarh Fort, with old-city lanes painted in shades of blue. Jaisalmer, the Golden City, is a living fort of golden sandstone at the edge of the Thar Desert, with families, shops and temples still inside its walls, and the Sam Sand Dunes nearby.
Is the drive on Day 7 back to Jaipur very long?
Yes — it’s the longest drive of the trip, around 6-7 hours. If you’d rather not do it in one go, we can route you via a short domestic flight from Jodhpur or Jaisalmer instead; just let us know when you enquire.
Can we add an overnight desert camp near the Sam Sand Dunes?
Yes — this is a popular optional add-on. We can arrange a night in a desert camp near the dunes, with your itinerary adjusted accordingly.
What's the best time of year for this route?
October to March offers the most comfortable temperatures across all four cities, including the desert legs around Jaisalmer. If your dates align with the Pushkar Camel Fair (usually October or November), the town becomes considerably livelier — let us know if you’d like to time your trip around it, or avoid it.
Is this a private tour, or will we be grouped with other travelers?
Fully private. Your vehicle, driver, and guide are exclusively yours for all 7 days.
What should we wear when visiting temples in Pushkar?
Modest clothing covering shoulders and knees at all temple sites, for both men and women. Your guide will let you know of any specific requirements at each stop.
Can this itinerary be shortened or reordered?
Yes. Pushkar or Jaisalmer can each be adjusted by a night if time is tight, or the route can be reordered to end in Jodhpur instead of looping back to Jaipur — let us know your priorities and available days.
What payment methods do you accept?
International card, bank transfer, or Revolut — you’ll receive a formal invoice under our registered business name, so there’s no need to carry cash for the full amount.
Is airport pickup and drop-off included?
Yes — our representative meets you at Jaipur airport on arrival, and you’re dropped at your Jaipur hotel or the airport at the end of the tour.
